Predicted Ecological Recovery
After the floods subside, I predict the land will go back to its dry-to-normal state. Vegetation and crops will be replaced, although natural selection would have seeded out the flood-resistant crops and the flood would have then quickened that specific evolution of that specific plant.
Many species that did have the traits to survive, had to migrate to a more regular area. They were not used to these, and could not survive. They had to move to like conditions. These animals that migrated may not move back once Mozambique turns to normal again. The trees will regrow, and in a hundred years or so, the area will be the same, give or take a couple of different organisms.
